Modloft, a Miami-based contemporary furniture supplier, has added Frank Lorenzo & Associates as its new Florida sales representatives. HIGH POINT  Modern bedroom, living room and dining source Modloft says it's adding a 30,000-square-foot West Coast warehouse in Los Angeles, which will open in about 60 days.

The facility will serve a growing West Coast business, said Ted Toledano, marketing manager.

The company has a 40,000-square-foot warehouse and main office in Miami that services south and central Florida. It also has a 100,000-square-foot warehouse and logistics hub in High Point that manages the bulk of the company's distribution.

Modloft manufactures in Brazil and Southeast Asia and will soon restart manufacturing operations in Italy, Toledano said.

"From a growth perspective, this being our seventh year, we are taking a leap into the next level of wholesale and distribution," he said.

Modloft began several efforts to grow its client base in September, when it launched a rebranding effort, Toledano said. The company is positioning itself as a high-end manufacturer of contemporary products aimed at a middle-price-point market.

In recently months, the company also increased its photography budget to produce a large catalog and a quick-ship brochure that lists key products for this week's market.

"We feel our line is a unique line that was keenly designed for competitive retailers," Toledano said. "With the combination of product designers that we have working for us and a sales team that's equally effective, we're making a significant push in the industry to take a share of the contemporary market."

Last year Modloft hired Guillermo Gonzalez as research and design director to oversee product development.

In December, it hired Neil Kusens as director of business development, with responsibility for e-commerce and digital marketing. In January it hired Keri Manasa as national sales manager.

Toledano said the company currently sells through 600 retailers and 25 online stores.

"Our wholesale distribution really has come a long way in a short while," he said.
